A Most Epic Adventure in Iceland

Hello all!

I have recently returned from the land of ice and fire, and all I can say is wow. Iceland is by and far the coolest place I have ever been in my life. Driving the ring road for a week was an eye-opening experience.  I never knew one country’s topography could change so quickly and so often (the weather as well!). Around every turn of the road, I said to myself “well that’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.” And my time spent in Reykjavik was a blast as well. There are two words we use in our daily lives that when taken literally, they are an outright exaggeration- Unbelievable and Indescribable. The things I saw along the ring road were literally just that.

There is so much I want to share with you all about my trip to Iceland. I am currently sorting through the 600 pictures I took and mind-blowing experiences I had. For those of you who didn’t follow my adventure on Instagram (@themodernmagellan), here’s a quick preview:

I will go into further detail on where these shots were taken and what is happening in each one. It’s hard to believe this was all in one tiny island country. Stay tuned for some awesome stories, videos, and pictures from this adventure!

What’s in the Pack: Iceland

I leave for Iceland in 2 days, so I thought I’d share what I’m packing for the 9-Day Ring Road adventure. Everything has been consolidated into one 40L backpack (minus the clothes I’ll be traveling in). The weather is going to be cold and rainy, the terrain will be rocky, and the plane ride is around 7 hours.  Being a modern magellan means becoming an efficient and purposeful traveler. Here’s what’s in the pack:

Some key clothing items: sweater, rain jacket, jeans, warm socks, warm hat, couple long sleeves and a couple of base layers.
Some smaller items: moleskin, headphones, iPad, passport wallet, sunglasses, waterproof case, plug converter, charger.
All loaded up. Ready for exploration.
