Another Upcoming Adventure in the Pipes: Patagonia

While I make my final preparations and bookings for my upcoming trip to Spain and Morocco, I am concurrently wrapping up details for my trekking adventure in Patagonia. After I return from Spain and Morocco, I have about 10 days of down time before I head right back out. On February 5th, I will be setting off on a bucket list adventure to Patagonia.

My trip to Patagonia will be 15 days in duration, and cover both Chilean and Argentinian parts of Patagonia. Accompanying me on this exploration will be my wonderful girlfriend Kalyn. Patagonia has been a trip we have been dreaming about for years, and now in just about two months it will be our reality.

One thing I’m particularly curious about for this trip is the landscape. I recently explored Iceland, which was way up north. The landscape in Iceland was so dramatic and ever-changing– the most unique place I’d ever seen. On the flip side, Patagonia should be just as dramatic, as it is way down south. Because it is situated on the southern tip of South America, Patagonia is the closest region in the world to Antarctica. With this geographic location, we should see a most epic landscape on our journey.

We have some specific adventures planned for Patagonia. For starters, we will be hiking and camping for 5 days in Torres del Paine on what is known as the “W” Trek. Torres del Paine is a national park in Chile, which is known for it’s huge jagged mountains, icy-blue lakes, and massive glaciers. Speaking of massive glaciers, we will be making our way to the Perito Moreno glacier in El Calafate, Argentina. Additionally, we have treks planned near El Chalten, Argentina, to see two of the most famous mountains in the world: Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy.

Patagonia will be an amazing journey to the end of the world, and I cannot wait any longer! I know, that’s a lot of traveling on my plate in the next couple months. But that’s the way I want it. This is what I live for. I am the Modern Magellan after all.

Stay tuned for more trip updates on both of my upcoming adventures. In the mean time, let’s see if we can get some serious snow here in Colorado so I can go shred.
