The adventure through Patagonia begins in two days. In this post, I’m going to share how I am packing for the trip. My girlfriend Kalyn and I will be gone for 15 days, and for about half that time we will be out in the wild trekking and camping. Here are a couple other important things to consider for what’s in the pack:
- I’m headed down there during the Patagonian summer. The temperature should range from 40ºF to 70ºF. The weather should change dramatically and often. I’m expecting sun, clouds, high winds, and rain. There could even be moments of snowfall.
- My strategy for the variable weather is layers. Instead of bringing larger, warmer, and bulkier items, I have chosen to bring a handful of smaller layers. As the weather changes, I can pull on or peel off layers as needed.
- There are some items I can’t bring with me on the flight down there. Fuel for my camping stove and a pocket knife will need to be purchased once I get there. I am bringing some food items with me, like oatmeal and tea, but I will purchasing most of the food items down there.
Clothing/Shoes/Headwear

Backpack/Tent/Sleeping

Camping Gear and Travel Accessories

So that’s what I’m bringing on the adventure. There may be an item or two that I add between now and the time I leave. I want to give a special thanks to Marty at Kingflyer Collective for some sweet headwear. If you love the outdoors, check them out!
