There are some fantastic trails just outside of Denver, Colorado. Specifically, there are gorgeous trails just outside of Nederland, CO. On Sunday I hiked the Diamond Lake Trail with my girlfriend. This 6-mile out and back hike took us through shaded pines, waterfalls, and to a picturesque alpine lake. The season is changing here, and the green forest was splotched with yellows and oranges. We even saw a massive bull moose in the middle of the trail. We kept our distance and could not snap a picture, but is was definitely the highlight of the day.
