There are ancient ruins, and then there is Angkor Wat. Located in Siem Reap, Cambodia, Angkor Wat is an ancient city of temples that is the largest religious monument in the world. It is the Machu Picchu of Asia. The complex is so large, that it takes multiple days to explore all of it! One day we biked around, the other day we hired a tuk-tuk driver to drive us from temple to temple. I constantly asked myself “Who builds something like this?”, “Why is this here?” There was no one answer, it was all mind-blowing.
Angkor Wat was one of the most stunning things I have ever witnessed and was a highlight of my trip in Southeast Asia. Go to Angkor Wat today and climb the stones of the once mighty Khmer Empire.
